SASHA SASHA's primary aim is to sterilise as many animals as possible, thus reducing the misery caused by uncontrolled breeding. In seven years one female cat and her offspring could produce 420,000 cats. In six years, one female dog and her offspring could produce 67,000 dogs. In South Africa 10 000 unwanted animals are euthanased weekly. LESS ANIMALS BORN MEANS LESS ANIMALS BEING ABUSED, NEGLECTED OR ENTERING RESCUE SHELTERS SO FEWER COMPETING FOR THE GOOD HOMES AVAILABLE AND PERHAPS LESS CROWDED SHELTERS. In 2008, despite being a very small organisation, SASHA sterilised a total of 1,378 animals, over 1,000 more than in 2007! We run an education campaign teaching basic pet care and in 2008 we reached 1,014 school children at primary schools in Ocean View, Masiphumelele and Sun Valley. Unfortunately there are still many more animals in our impoverished communities in need of sterilisation. View our Wish List on our website. Volunteers needed please! Objectives:
* Manage the population of domestic animals by sterilisation. | |
